HISTORY

It was the God-given vision of our founding pastor, Reverend Earl Nobles, to establish a church in the Pine Hills community.  He believed that it was important that the church be a non-denominational body that preached and believed in the infallible Word of God and would be open to all.  It was the Pastor’s heart-felt desire to have a church that would draw families.  He also prayed that the Lord would send men that would help him carry out the work of the ministry.

After much prayer and seeking a suitable place to hold services, the Lord opened the doors of Oak Hill Elementary School through its principal, Dr. Susie Jackson.  The first service was held on February 17, 1985. When the invitation was given, nine members came establishing the initial membership of Pine Hills Community Church.

The Lord began adding new members week by week.  In March of 1985, God led the Pastor to seek a new home for the young and growing congregation.  On April 14, 1985, Reverend Nobles led the church in services at its new home, the West Orlando Rotary Club (WORC).  This would be the home of PHCC for almost 2 years.  While at the WORC, Reverend Nobles started our Sunday School, Prayer Meeting, Bible Study, and the Youth and Adult Choirs.  In response to the preaching of God’s Word, the membership grew from the initial nine to over 100!

In late 1986, the Lord caused the Pastor to begin looking for another home for PHCC.  On February 2, 1987, God in His goodness gave PHCC a new home at 1331 N. Pine Hills Road.  We became “The Little Church With The BIG Heart.”  During the 11 years at our new home, God added over 700 members to the congregation, as He saw fit.  Additionally, God answered Reverend Nobles’ prayers by providing men to help carry out the work of the ministry.  The Lord gave him a staff of 11 ministers.  Seven of which responded to the Call under the Pastor’s leadership after first becoming deacons.

It was during this time that God led Reverend Nobles in defining the Mission and Vision of PHCC.

It is the mission of Pine Hills Community Church to:

  • Witness to and lead the lost to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  • Disciple believers to spiritual maturity through the teaching of the Word of God.

It is the Vision of Pine Hills Community Church to be:

  • An evangelism-minded church sharing the Gospel through personal witnessing and public proclamation through newspaper, radio and television.

  • A model church for teaching and training ministers, leaders and teachers.

  • A true “Community” church meeting the varied needs of the immediate and extended community.

  • A multi-cultural, color-rich church with relevant ministries for all its members.

The work of carrying out the ministry was divided into 7 areas: Evangelism, Education, Pastoral Care, Music, Community Outreach, Service and Administration, each with its Ministry Director.

As the church membership continued to grow, the Lord compelled Reverend Nobles’ to begin looking for a new home for His people in 1995.  On October 29, 1998 the papers were signed.  God had moved us again to a new home! This time he moved us just down the road to 1305 North Pine Hills Road, still in the Pine Hills community.  We marched from our old church to our new home on November 15th.  The first service was held on November 22nd and the dedication was held on December 13, 1998.

Upon entering the new church, Reverend Nobles said that he could see the hand of God moving upon this church to accomplish His vision. However, in His infinite wisdom, the Lord took our Founding Pastor home on July 18, 1999 before he could see the vision fully realized.  However, God provided us with an experienced Pastor, who was already on staff, in Reverend Herbert L. Smith.

Rev. Herbert Smith guided the Church through 3 years of facility preparation for greater ministries and the expansion of ministries for our children, youth and young adults.  In addition to the existing ministries on October 28, 2001 the Church dedicated and opened the Earl Nobles Family Center at 1303 N. Pine Hills Road.

In October 2002, Rev. Smith announced his retirement as Senior Pastor, effective March 1, 2003 and Rev. Anthony Johnson was elected as the new Senior Pastor.

In March 2019, the Church elected Rev. Dwayne Lewis as Interim Pastor until March of 2020.  Rev. John Christian served as Interim Pastor from March 2020 until March 6, 2021. On March 7, 2021, Rev. Julius Milles was selected as Pastor of Pine Hills Community Church, Inc.
